About Us

Haverhill & District Local History Group {H&DLHG} exists to collect, house, preserve and interpret the history of Haverhill and its surrounding district. about us pageThe Group also provides a means for the general public to access this local archive material in the Haverhill History Centre.

This website is an attempt to extend the access of the general public to the history of our town. Obviously the writing and inclusion of items on this site will take some time, please bear with us and check back often.

The work of the H&DLHG is entirely dependent on the contribution of volunteers and the Group is always looking for new members to help with the running of this important local service.

Volunteering is a great way to get involved in your local community, gain new skills and experience and meet new people. It could be a great opportunity for students with an interest in history or the running of a small charity.

The Local History Group meet on the last Wednesday of each month from September to May, usually for a talk on a subject of Local History interest. Membership costs £14 per year or £25 for couples.
Membership also includes two copies of the group's magazine - The 'Haverhill Historian'.
